After Life – This is a marvelously crafted tale of case workers at a train station between the heavens who help the recently departed to pick a lone moment from their pasts to live within eternally. This is a tranquil, lyrical assessment of life, death, and memory, filled with soft humor and thankfully free of some feel-good platitudes. Rhapsody in Blue – Hollywood biography of George Gershwin is largely fiction, although comes off better than most other composer biographies, seizing Gershwin’s exhilaration for his work, and some of his innermost conflicts.
