It’s incredible to think back to 2008 and grasp that this was the year when we saw CRT technology almost vanish off of the map. LCD technology pushed it out and we’ll never see it again.

In 2007, we had a pretty balanced spread of CRT and LCD technology. Of course, you could get some great deals then on new CRT TVs. Now, it’s quite difficult to unearth one in most electronics stores and on the web. In 2008, they were phased out all but completely and now LCD models are by far the most widely available.

All of the latest releases from television manufacturers are HD capable and are either LCD or plasma screens. The Toshiba 32RV635DB was released in 2009. This is a 3 pin version for the UK of the Toshiba 32RV635. These sets are identical with the exception of the UK plug.

The Toshiba 32RV635DB is a 32 inch high definition television with an optimum viewing distances of 8 to 10 feet. The television has a cabinet design that helps it fit in to your living room a little better than most models of high definition television do. You’ll see sharp crisp pictures pretty much anywhere in the room if you’re watching a standard or HD programme.

If you were planning on doing some serious gaming with this HDTV, you may want to try another model.

If you’re looking to be environmentally conscious, the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB is the set for you. Looking to make your carbon footprint a tad smaller? You’ve found the right television. When you look at the left panel in the back of the TV, you’ll see the hard disconnect switch. This reduces your typical standby electric usage from about 3 watts per hour to under 1 watt per hour. This is quite impressive when you’re trying to help out Mother Earth.

The Toshiba 32RV635DB features a completely new Graphic User Interface (GUI) on its menu screens. The icons and fonts are excellent, well thought out features and the colours are vivid enough to make it easy to see exactly what one is doing when working with the menu.

You will have to keep an eye on the aspect ratio setting. The easiest thing to do is to check it when you turn the TV on.

Upon technical testing, some issues did pop up. There were several overdrive errors that came up and some colour smudging. What this means to you is that if you are the typical TV watcher who plans on watching television shows and movies on a regular basis, the 32RV635DB could be the TV for you. If you’re looking to play 60p computer games, you may be disappointed by the graphics on this television.

The Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB has a better than average viewing angle, but at extreme side angles there is some unavoidable shifting of colours and gamma that lead to distortion. As far as sharpness goes, this model has a 1 to 1 pixel mapping which means that the image produced is as sharp as it is possible to obtain.

Keep in mind, the 32RV635DB is not one of the higher end HD models available. However, it has shown serious promise for those who are looking for a low priced High Definition TV to use for viewing purposes for your family. This set did better than anything else in this price range and the aspect ratio is key.

If you’re looking for a good TV for viewing your nightly television shows or even as a second television for the kids, you can’t find a better television for the price tag than the Toshiba Regza 32RV635DB.
