How To Be A Video Game Designer - 3D Animation Career

How often do we hear individuals that’ve careers complain about never doing the job theyre trained to do? They didn’t realize when they get into into their chosen field that there would be numerous aspects to the job.

The same premise applies with the video game artist. Before genuinely researching the subject various will be artists think it is merely a matter of sitting down and designing a game and then putting it into production and it’s ready to play. It doesnt rather work that way. If it did there would likely be even more games on the market than there already are. Video game artists have such a variety of jobs to do that various of these jobs have pretty evolved into becoming specialties.

A great example of this is the concept artist. In some other words the idea maker. It’s his job to be creative and dream up the different characters and the types of atmosphere it will demand.. Once it’s put to paper its scanned into the comp and it’s cleaned up utilising a software programme with these kinds of capabilities like Photoshop for illustration. Now we’re still at the rough stage and color now has to be introduced.

This is where the texture artist now meets his roll. Its his job to produce the texture for the colours, then it moves onto the 3D model builder. So where did the role of the video game artist end? Actually, it did not; the video game artist would have been doing anyone, some or all of the duties as outlined.

To become a concept artist you require to be yourself, you cant genuinely take training to be one. Merely being because its based on creativity. No one could teach you to be creative, but they could teach you to develop your natural creativity. This’s normally done by practice and much more practice. You could never reach a plateau where you can say youve mastered it all, it merely doesnt occur with the arts. Another thing to bear in mind is do not be a copier, be a creator. It doesnt take much creativity to sit down and copy other work.

Be observant, watch things how they move, animals, humans and even the components. By doing this you would perfect your skills in proper proportions, and skeletal structure. The setting youre going to place your characters in is almost as significant as the characters themselves. You are setting the atmosphere, which in turn sets the theme.

You many decide that you want to specialise in 2D or 3D animation, which is fantastic. It means you’re going to have to find out the levels of the some games and edit them as necessary. You would even have the responsibility of that of the texturing artist.

Now the 2D texturing artist has the job of texturing all of the elements found within the game as it pertains to the 3D objects. This can be greatly perfected and enhanced by the use of good quality soft-ware designed simply for this.
