The Masquerade theme party originated in 15th century Venice amongst the upper classes so that they could get away with playing away from home without their true identities being known!

The Masquerade theme party is now popular all over the world. The main point being that guests get to hide their identities by wearing masks. You’ll be amazed at what you can get away with when nobody knows who you are!

If you’re thinking of throwing a Masquerade theme party, follow these tips to help make it a party to remember:

1. For your invites, get some cardboard and cut out some face masks! Make sure to state that dressing up is essential.

2. Men and women should aim to dress up as outlandish and flamboyant as possible. Think about having an award for the best costume later on in the night.

3. Masks are absolutely essential! Your identity has to be concealed at all times. You can though if you wish have a public unveiling at midnight!

4. Hire a pro photographer and station him at the entrance to take photos of your guests in front of a backdrop. You’re guests will love this idea!

5. Just in case any of your guests forget or fail to bring their own masks, you had better have a spare supply ready just in case!

6. Place lots of candles around the room and dim the lights. Try and create aura of intrigue.

7. If you have a large budget, or the company is paying for the party, consider hiring a string quartet. Otherwise playing classical music will be sufficient.

8. Masquerade theme parties are grand occasions. The food should reflect this fact! Dinner should be a seated affair. If you have a limited budget, then fine finger buffets will suffice.

9. Go for nice wine or champagne to drink. You should serve it in your best glasses.
